]]>Free food fills me with a warm joyous feeling in the pit of my stomach (and that’s before I eat it). If it does the same for you, there are a few ways to get free food from apps in the UK.
Freebies are one of life’s pleasures that I’m sure everybody loves. And if you’re a bargain hunter like me, it’s something you search the web for.
But increasingly, apps on your phone are paving the way for freebies and free food. Which makes things easier – as you always have your phone with you. There are no coupons to remember to bring.
Because they are so simple, everyone should be gorging on free food. Here’s everything you need to know.

What Apps Give You Free Food?
From free hot wings at KFC, to a free taco and even free Pringles. There’s plenty here to fill your belly for free.
You can find free food in the supermarket, at restaurants, fast food establishments and even through your neighbours.
As there are so many places to find free food with apps, I thought I’d compile them all together in this list, to help you get started.

Restaurants – Free Food From Apps
When you think of food, you often think of restaurants and fast food chains. This can be expensive when you have no vouchers (or freebies of course).
While you may not get a lavish Michelin star meal for free, these little treats and goodies should make you just as happy.

KFC – Free Side (including Hot Wings & Popcorn Chicken)
If you have never signed up to the Colonel’s Club at KFC (its loyalty app), you can get a free side just for signing up.
When you’ve submitted your details when downloading the KFC app, you’ll receive 3 chicken stamps – enough for a free side.
Your choice of side includes: Small Popcorn Chicken, 2 Hot Wings, Soft Drink, Sundae or Regular Fries.

Taco Bell – Free Taco & Loyalty Points
This is a great one – and I absolutely love Taco Bell. You can get a free crunchy taco at any restaurant.
You’ll also receive 50 Taco Bell Supreme rewards points (which makes you 150 points away from free Churros or Cinnamon Twists).
If you’ve never downloaded the Taco Bell mobile app, get it on your phone and enter a friend’s invite code when ordering.
You can use mine, which is JORDX14409 – and you’ll be given a free taco and 50 points.
The taco is available to claim up to a month after you download the app, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy it. There’s no minimum spend either.
Not a bad freebie for downloading an app! Here’s what the freebie looks like when it pops up on the app:
McDonald’s – Free McCafé Hot Drink
Downloading the McDonald’s app is something you should do. Quite often there are offers or freebies that pop up for app users.
And, if you’re a new McDonald’s app user and download for the first time, you get a freebie added to your deals tab.
At the moment until July 5th, it’s any hot drink from the McCafé range – including tea, latte and cappuccino.
To claim it, you just need to sign up, click on the ‘deals’ section of the app, select the offer and choose your nearest McDonald’s to collect it from.
The freebie is worth between 99p-£1.49, so it wont break the bank, but a nice bonus!
Sometimes you get free cheeseburgers, wraps and other offers on the app too, so look out for those!
Costa – Free Breakfast Butty Or Toastie
Costa Coffee is one of my favourite chains to eat lunch at (and have a coffee of course).
There is a way to get some free food here too – and it only takes a purchase of any hot drink.
If you’re new to the Costa Coffee Club app, you can download it to use and start accumulating points.
When you first download the app, you get 100 bonus points (worth £1).
However, if you enter a referral code, and make your first purchase, you get a bonus 200 points added to your account (worth £2).
You can enter my referral code 4IOLX to get the bonus £2.
With the 100 points for joining, and the bonus 200 points, that gives you 300 points (worth £3), which you can spend on drinks or food.
If you picked up a bacon butty or ham & cheese toastie costing £2.95, it’ll make it free if you pay using those points.
Burger King – Discounts & Free Food
Burger King’s app is full of deals which rotate each week, getting you money off basically everything on the menu.
Occasionally, they give away free food from the app. I’ve picked up free fries and a free Whopper (usually worth £4+).
Free food will be widely publicised through push notifications, so you wont miss any – but until they come up, you can still save money with the offers.
Tastecard – 2 For 1 & 50% Off Food
Okay, this one isn’t totally free, however if you’re dining with a friend, you can get one of your meals for free.
If you wanted some options when going out for dinner, you can get money off and free meals with Tastecard.
Tastecard gets you 50% off or 2 for 1 meals at 6,000+ restaurants including Prezzo, Pizza Hut, Bella Italia and more.
You can get a 60 day free trial to try it out here.
Be sure to cancel if you don’t want to continue the membership after, as it’ll renew at £5.99 a month.
Multiple Restaurants – Birthday Freebies
Did you know that you can get loads of freebies on your birthday? Quite often they’re easy to claim and sent directly to you.
When signing up for restaurant newsletters (usually by email), you’ll get sent freebies and discounts from up to a week before your big day.
Some of the food freebies include a free Krispy Kreme Doughnut, free Ed’s Diner milkshakes, free smoothies and more.

Krispy Kreme – Free Doughnut
I love me a Krispy Kreme, and you can get one for free when you sign up to the Krispy Kreme loyalty scheme.
You can pick up the free doughnut either in a Tesco with a Krispy Kreme counter, or in an actual store.
This costs around £1.50, so won’t break the bank, but it’s a sweet freebie.
Supermarkets – Free Food From Apps UK
It’s not just restaurants that can be a goldmine for free food via apps. You can also pick up a lot of food in the supermarket.
These can be in the form of coupons or apps, but it’ll make your shopping trips a lot cheaper (and fun).
Here’s how to get free food from apps in the supermarket:
Free Pringles – Shopmium
If you’ve never used cashback apps before, you can get freebies and discounts on your supermarket food shop. One of my favourites is from Shopmium.
If you download the Shopmium app, and enter the code YU8i9F, you can get a free can of Pringles.
To claim, you buy it in a store of your choice, and take a picture of the receipt. You’ll then get sent the money spent back to your PayPal account.
Free Food Sharing – Olio
There’s an app you can download called Olio which allows you to share and pick up food from your neighbours.
If you have food in your cupboard that perhaps you wont eat, or make one too many brownies that you want to share – you can advertise it on Olio.
People in your local area can do the same, and everything on here is listed for free and free for anyone to collect.
It’s a way to trade food with your neighbours, pick up some freebies, and also clear your cupboard.
There are also ambassadors on the app, that gives away food on behalf of Tesco that are soon to expire – to stop food waste.

Coupons – Free Food
As my namesake is “Britain’s Coupon Kid” – I started my whole money saving journey by using coupons.
While not all of them are on apps (apart from cashback apps like Shopmium), there are plenty of coupons that can get you free food.

If I had to combine my 2 favourite things of going to the theatre and learning about ways to save money – I’d be in heaven. If you’re the same, then you’ll be as excited as me with this news.
From January – March 2022, I’ll be going on tour with a show called ‘Secrets To Saving Money LIVE!’ to 6 locations around the country.
What Can You Expect From Secrets To Saving Money LIVE?
Tips to save £100s a year that you might not know, prizes up for grabs, freebies for every attendee and a free night out.
Whether you want to learn more bargain hunting ways, or think of yourself as an expert – there should be something for everybody!
I’m honestly so excited to be doing this – it’s something I’ve wanted to do for such a long time.
After the past 18 months that we’ve been through, it was so important for me to do something to put a smile back on people’s faces (and have a free night out). Hopefully this does just that!
How Much Are Tickets?
I’m delighted to say that tickets are FREE at every venue!
It was important to me after the awful few years we’ve had to get people out for a night of entertainment at a local theatre for free – and save some money too.
As the events are expected to be extremely popular, free tickets will be slightly oversubscribed to make up for inevitable no shows. It’s recommended you arrive early to claim your seat.
There is also a paid for ticket option costing £5, that gets you a seat already reserved at the front – so you won’t need to worry about getting there early.

Cashback is a great way to save money, and there are two main players in the game – until now. Here’s how MyMoneyPocket works.
I love cashback and am always looking around at what the best cashback deals are.
A new cashback site called MyMoneyPocket is now on the scene, with some cashback rates higher than competitors.
Here’s how it works and how you can save money:
What Is MyMoneyPocket?
MyMoneyPocket is a new cashback website to rival the likes of TopCashback and Quidco.
It works in near enough the same way as the old favourites, however it features a lot of voucher codes, which is stackable on the cashback (something you don’t see often on the others.
One thing you find on other cashback sites is the speed in which it takes for cashback to become payable is sometimes ridiculous, whereas on MyMoneyPocket – it’s much faster, which is a bonus.
I’ve been using it for the past week, and it seems pretty easy to use, and it’s another great place to check for cashback when shopping online.

To claim cashback, you’ll need to search for the retailer you’re looking to shop from and click through the tracked link and complete your purchase to claim cashback.
There are also some good cashback deals which beat the rates on other sites, such as:

How To Claim Cashback
When your cashback does go into ‘payable’ – it’s pretty easy to cash your money out.
On other sites, there are a lot of different gift card options, which could be great if you wanted to get them – but a minefield if you just want the cash.
On My Money Pocket, there’s one option – cold hard cash.
It’s done as a BACs transfer which can take a couple of days to go through once requested.
The whole process of buying to getting cashback and claiming back to your bank is much faster, which I personally see as a massive bonus.

And that is the new cashback site on the block. It’s certainly one to watch as it grows, and for me I’ll continue to compare rates across the board.

Whether you know anything about shares or not, there is a way to make some free cash through a few easy steps.
Saving money is something I love to do, however I’ve always tried making extra money at every turn I go.
You may always see adverts on TV for trading companies advertising free shares, and just thought “I’ve got no idea how that works” – and I was the same.
But in hindsight, it’s a very easy way to make some quick money, and you don’t even have to partake in trading. You could claim the free shares and cash out – meaning an almost instant profit.
Here’s how it works, and how you could possibly earn hundreds (if you’re lucky):
£10+ Worth Of Free Shares
There are usually a few different companies that give you free shares when signing up, but one has now stopped and others are just too confusing (even for me).
But there is one company who’s offering a free share (which has been boosted to a minimum of £10+), that’s worth doing.
“Why would I want a random share?” I hear you ask. The answer is… you can cash it out, and withdraw it into your bank – basically earning you free cash.
If you’re keen to get started and see if you win a free share worth up to £200 – here’s how it works:
FreeTrade – £10-200 Free Share
Freetrade is an app available for both iOS and Android, in which you can invest anything from £1+ into most companies that you can think of.
When signing up to Freetrade, and depositing £1, you get a free share allocated to you.
Usually the value of your free share is between £3-200, but for the rest of June, it’s boosted to within the value of £10-200.
It’s a bit of a lottery as to what value your share will have, but it’s said it’s one of around 100 different companies, all with varying values.

How Do I Get My Share?
1. Sign up through this link and deposit £1 (no need to invest in anything to get the share)
2. Upon doing this, you’ll see the below pop up appear on your home screen. You’ll receive a free share within 7-10 days (usually allocated on Wednesdays)
3. You can sell the share straight away (putting the money into your account), or keep it invested once it’s revealed to you.
4. After 30 days from the date you received your share, you can withdraw your account balance into your bank account.
So for signing up and depositing at least £1, you can withdraw a minimum of £11 just 30 days later.
My share when I signed up with Freetrade was worth £22 – so a nice little profit for not much work. A friend of mine lucked out with a £60 share – but this will be less common.
Referring A Friend
Here’s the thing… once you have a Freetrade account, you can invite as many people to sign up through your link as you want.
For each friend you get to download and deposit £1, you get a free share as well as them.
So if you signed up through my link, then sent your own referral link to your spouse – you’ll get 3 shares between the two of you – meaning a minimum of £30 profit – and maybe more. Not bad for a few minutes work.
Need To Knows
When signing up – select the free account that costs £0 a month.
You’ll need to complete a form (basically saying you aren’t taxed in the US before you get your share), but it’s only one button.
You’ll need your National Insurance number to set up an account (I had to fish mine out)
After depositing £1, you’ll have a free share notification pop up – but it’ll be locked for a while until it’s revealed.
You can share your own link with family/friends to get a free share for yourself and them too.

Conclusion – Free Shares
There we have it – for an initial investment of £1, you could be earning £10s or even £100s more in free shares.
It might take a month for them to be withdrawn, but set a reminder on your phone, and save the date for when you can. It’ll be pretty easy money!
My partner got a free share in Snap (Snapchat) last summer which was worth £50. Just one of those, and you’re laughing all the way to the bank.

There’s nothing better than picking up a free coffee, and there are lots of them about to be found.
You know what they say… the best things in life are free. Forget that saying “there’s no such thing as a free lunch”… I’ve had one many a time!
If it’s a free caffeine kick you’re looking for though – you’re also in luck. There are multiple places right now that you can get some free coffee, tea and other hot beverages.
“HOW” I hear you cry… don’t worry – I have all the details:
How To Get A Free Coffee UK
I’ve rounded up all the places you can get a free coffee in the UK, and there are a few of them!
For most of these, you’ll need to sign up to some form of newsletter or loyalty scheme, but they all don’t take long.
On average, these free coffees save you between £1-3 per drink, so if you pace yourself and claim them all, you’ll be saving a fair bit of money.
On to the deals:
Free Hot Drink At McDonald’s
You can find McDonald’s restaurants up and down the country… and if you’ve never downloaded the McDonald’s app, they’ll give you a free hot drink.
This includes toffee latte, flat white, cappuccino, white coffee, black coffee, tea or a hot chocolate.
This freebie is worth between 99p-£1.79, and to claim, you’ll need to order through the app for click and collect, after selecting the deal in the ‘offers’ section.
You don’t have to buy anything else with the free coffee, so you can just pick up the freebie and leave – coffee in hand.
If your spouse/parents/friend etc have never signed up for the app, you can get them to do it too and make a coffee date out of it!

Costa Coffee Free Drink After Your First Purchase
Costa Coffee is the biggest coffee shop chain in the UK. Sometimes they give away totally free drinks, and every other time, you can get on nearly free.
If you’ve never signed up to the Costa Coffee Club, this is how you’re going to do it.
You can get 100 points for free when you download the app and sign up for the first time – which is a good start.
But, if you enter someone’s referral code (such as mine 4IOLX), then you can get a bonus 200 points after your first purchase.
Each point is worth 1p, so those 300 points accumulated are worth £3. This can be used to buy pretty much any coffee or drink on the Costa menu.

3 Free Coffees Trick At Caffè Nero
One free coffee is great… but how about 3? There is a way using the Café Nero app refer-a-friend scheme to really profit from it.
If you download the Caffè Nero app, you’ll see on the main screen that if you invite a friend to the app via your link, then they get a free hot drink (and you get TWO).
Your friend will need to buy their first coffee through the app, and they’ll receive their free one the next time they go. You’ll also receive two free hot drinks at this point too.
So, if you did this with your spouse etc, buying one drink between you will get you 3 for free! A total of £7-10 worth of freebies for spending around £2-3.

Pret A Manger 1 Month Of Free Coffee
If you’re a Pret fan, you can massively take advantage of this offer.
In 2020, Pret A Manger released a subscription service, allowing users to get up to 5 drinks a day for a whole month.
You have to wait 30 minutes in between each drink (including iced coffee and cold brews), so this could mean a lot of free drinks.
You’ll be charged £1 for signing up, but that will be refunded within 3 days just to check your card details.
You’ll also need to cancel the subscription after the first month if you don’t want to use it, or you’ll be charged £20 a month thereafter.

Free Jacks Coffee (400+ locations)
He’s a way to get some coffee from various coffee kiosks around the country.
To get it, you’ll need to download the Jacks Beans Coffee Company app, and upon registering you’ll be gifted a free coffee.
There are over 400 places nationwide in which you can claim this (which you can find in the app). This includes local shops such as Spar, Costcutter and Nisa, independent stores and also forecourts.
The normal cost of a coffee from them is £2, and you can choose between a latte, americano, white coffee, cappuccino, mocha and hot chocolate.
If you keep buying coffee from them too – you can get your 10th free – if you need that much caffeine!

Free Tea Or Coffee At IKEA
You certainly need some sort of drink after wandering around the maze of IKEA, and you can get one for free.
If you’re signed up for an IKEA family club card, you can get a free tea or coffee in the cafe.
It’s only available Monday to Friday, and you can only get one per visit, but it’s still a nice little freebie.
If you shop with a friend, or someone else with another card, it could be the place you go for a meeting, as you can get one every day.

Free Drink Tuesdays & Wednesdays with O2 Priority
If you’re on O2 for your mobile provider, you can get a free hot or cold drink at Caffè Nero on Tuesdays and Wednesdays every single week.
You’ll need to have the O2 Priority app downloaded, and showing the deal to a cashier will get you your free hot or cold drink.
You can choose between an Iced Americano, Iced Latte, Caffè Latte, Cappuccino, Americano, Espresso, Mocha, Flat White, Cortado, Tea or Hot Chocolate.

Conclusion
As you can see, there are a number of places that you can pick up a free coffee.
Now we’re starting to return to normal, there will be more too, as some free coffee schemes have been put on hold.

]]>Although technology is moving on, sending cards to each other is still a nice thing we hold on to. With this deal, you’re able to get free cards each month – which should cover most birthdays in your calendar.
I love sending cards to people on different occasions. The only thing I don’t like is the price…
Yes it’s a nice thing to do, but they can really add up! Personalised cards can be up to £4-5 for a nice one with postage, and if you have a large family – it’ll soon cost a lot.
But luckily, there is a way to save money when getting your cards. Here’s how:
Free Birthday & Greetings Cards
On your phone there is app called Free Prints Cards, which is available for free on iOS and Android devices.
As the name suggests, it’s an app on your phone that allows you to make and send personalised cards.
You can include photos and text, the same way as you would with Moonpig or Funky Pigeon, with a lot of different card options.
Normal cards cost around £1.99 for the card (plus 85p postage). This works out cheaper than the standard ones from

How To Get A Free Card
As a perk for downloading the app, you get a free card every calendar month to send to your friends and family.
Unfortunately it’s not a foldable card, but the freebie you get is a postcard (normally costing £1.30).
You’re able to get one for free each month from the 1st. So if you ordered one on the 31st, and one the next day on the 1st – that’s allowed. Or you can space them out.
You do have to pay for postage, which is 85p – but it’s a lot cheaper way to send a card.
I’ve done this a several times to send free cards or greetings cards (it was great during lockdown to send ‘I miss you’ cards to people.
Here’s one I made earlier. As you can see, it costs you 85p in total:
Postage might take slightly longer than other card posting services with Free Prints Cards.
Do have a look at sending it around a week before someone’s birthday if you want it to get there on time.

Conclusion
If sending a card gets very expensive for you, this is a great way to save money on them.
There are of course other ways to get birthday and greetings cards for free by printing them off or making them yourself, but this is great if you wanted a professional one.

It’s been a long time since I’ve gone abroad on holiday – but this €200 incentive to visit Malta this summer is very tempting…
With a little bit of luck, summer holidays could be coming back to us this year.
I for one hope that’s the case. It’ll mean those travelling to ‘green’ countries can travel to and from without quarantining – just tests.
But one country is very eager to get tourists back. So much so, that you could be paid for going there.
Here’s everything we know so far about getting paid to go to Malta this summer:
Get Paid To Visit Malta This Summer
Quite honestly, it does sound too good to be true. But from what I’ve seen, it’s very real.
The country of Malta is incentivising people to come and visit the island by paying up to €200 when booking a qualifying hotel on the island directly through the hotel website.
You’ll receive the bonus if you book three nights or more after June 1st 2021 and complete your stay.
We’re yet to know the full details of how this will work. There is a total of €3,500,000 invested into this from the Malta Tourism Authority, and will be available until the funds run out.
So it may only last a short while – or it could last for months. Hopefully the latter!
I’ve put a brief summary of how the scheme would work – and will continue to update this blog with new information when it comes out.
All information comes from Malta’s official tourism website where hotels sign up to the scheme.
Bonus Cash Breakdown
The key words in all of this is ‘up to’ €200. When the scheme starts, you’ll get the full amount of €200 paid to you if staying at a 5* hotel.
If you’re staying at a 4* hotel, that bonus will go down to a still decent €150.
And finally at 3* hotels, you’ll get €100.
It’s still unclear as to whether you’ll receive this in actual cash, hotel credit or some sort of spending money.

How Much Will A Holiday Cost Me With This Discount?
Again, because it’s unclear how you’ll get the money, it’s difficult to work out.
What I can tell, from my examples, is that is has the potential to make your holiday VERY cheap.
I tried to have a look at what the cheapest 3 night trip to Malta would be in a 4* hotel, over a weekend and here’s what I found:
3 night trip to Malta – 4* hotel
Dates – Fri 15 Jun – Mon 18 Jun
Flights – £26 each with Wizz Air (Gatwick)
Hotel – £120 for 3 nights at Solana Hotel & Spa 4*
Total: £172 for 2 people
Amount of Euros due: €150 for a 4* hotel (£130 ish)
Grand total cost: £42 for 2 people
Now of course… take this with a grain of salt, as there are still a lot of unknowns here.
We may not be able to travel that soon, this hotel might not be included and you may not get the bonus in actual cash… but this just shows you what this deal could do.

Can I Go To Malta On Holiday In June?
The government guidelines as of April, is saying that international travel can be opened up on May 17th at the earliest.
If this timeline is met, then legally, we should be able to travel to selected foreign countries.
We do know that when travel opens up to other countries, there will be a traffic light system that is at follows:
Green: Passengers will not need to quarantine on return from their trip, but take a test before going out and coming back
Amber: Passengers will need to quarantine at home for 10 days after return, as well as testing before going and 2 PCR tests on your return
Red: Passengers will have to stay for 10 days at an airport ‘quarantine hotel’ at their own expense. Test on departure and 2 PCR tests on return
It is very likely that Malta will fall into the green category, due to low infection and high vaccination rates.
But of course, there are still a lot of questions, and if the governement’s plan of international travel from May is pushed back, it may make it tricky.
There’s also the question over whether you need to be fully vaccinated to go abroad.
A very low number of people under 40 will be fully vaccinated by June, and of course there are people that don’t want the vaccine that this may affect.
I’ll update this blog more when we know about the requirements of travel.

When Do We Find Out Which Hotels Are Involved?
Hotels that want to take part in this scheme are currently signing up right now.
It’s likely that there will be a website or list of hotels taking part in the scheme in the coming weeks, so travellers can look through the options and book.
The hotels listed will have to be booked directly (if you book through Booking.com or similar – then you won’t get the bonus).

Should I Book A Holiday To Malta?
I don’t think anyone really has the answer to this question.
People are very keen to start booking trips, and the travel industry is desperate for bookings… but I’d be wary.
If anything changes in restrictions in the UK or abroad, the whole trip can be put into jeopardy.
If you are really keen to do this when the hotels are announced, then make sure you book hotels and flights than have free cancellation just to protect you.
