I am always asked ‘what is your favourite way to save money’, and for me, it’s like picking your favourite child. I have so many tips – so here are my top picks in one place.

With the cost of living constantly being on people’s minds, it’s more important than ever to start cutting back costs.

Whether it’s using cashback, coupons or knowing some sneaky tricks and hacks – there are plenty of resources you can use.

There have been lots of blogs I’ve published over the years that can still save you money now, and beyond into 2024 – so I’ve rounded up the best ones for you to look at.

Hopefully it means you’ll have a bit more money in your pocket in the long run.

Here’s each website or app, and a brief explanation about each:

Airtime Rewards

Airtime Rewards is a cashback app on your phone which you can earn money with little effort.

Link your Visa and Mastercards to this app, and if you ever spend at one of its retailers, you get cashback, and you don’t have to think about it.

Retailers include Primark, Boots, Wilko, Argos, Papa Johns and many more. Cashback into your account will be transferred and pay your monthly phone bill.

Enter my referral code TEMMNEV4 to get 50p for free when you sign up (and a bonus £1 if you shop with one of their retailers in the first week).

JamDoughnut

JamDoughnut is a brand new cashback app where you can get £100s worth of cashback instantly – this includes supermarkets.

You can then go ahead and spend the gift card with some free cashback in your account.

On JamDoughnut, you can get cashback on supermarkets like Asda, Sainsbury’s M&S & Waitrose – as well as high street shops and restaurants.

You can get £1 free credit and £4 extra credit when you make your first purchase by using the code R2GX when signing up.

Gener8 Ads is a browser plugin, which replaces adverts on the web to it’s own ones – which pays YOU for viewing them.

With each ad you see, you’ll build up tokens which you can exchange for Amazon Vouchers, Amazon products or donate to charity.

The idea, is to get enough people signed up so they can pay everyone in cash – but it’s still in early stages.

Instead of adverts, they replace them with pictures of pugs and feel good images too, which is nicer for everyone!

TopCashback

TopCashback is an online cashback site which can earn you a lot of money for little work.

The biggest thing I’m asked is “where do you find your deals – and how can I get them? That is why I’ve now launched Deal A Day!

Deals, freebies and bargains are everywhere. That’s not to say that all of them are great deals however.

When scrolling through deals forums and Facebook pages, you’ll often find lots of ‘non deals’ like 50p off a kettle or reduced toys at a random supermarket miles away.

But there are diamonds in the rough that might be missed if you don’t go digging for them.

The only issue is, it can take a lot of time and research to find the great deals (which is basically what my job is now!)

Which is why there’s now a solution – and it’s called Deal A Day!

Deal A Day – Save £3,000+ A Year

If you’ve ever heard of Jack’s Flight Club, think of it like that – but for deals, bargains and freebies.

Deal A Day is a new alert service that I’ve launched, that cuts out the scrolling and the ‘non deals’ – and only sends you the best of the best.

You’ll get a new one each day, and all of the important T&Cs will be displayed in an easy to read manner.

I’ll be researching and writing all of the deals for you each day – so they’ll be properly researched and vetted.

On average, each deal will save you around £8, which added up over the year will save you £3,000+ if you claimed them all!

What Deals Can You Expect?

Only the good stuff! I present the best deals I find on Steph’s Packed Lunch every Wednesday on Channel 4 – so if you’ve watched my segments on there, you’ll know what to expect on Deal A Day.

In the past, our users have been sent a range of deals, including:

  • Free National Trust Family Pass (Worth £50)
  • £130 saving on a Boots No7 beauty box
  • Free Go-Karting for Kids (Worth £35)
  • BOGO Half Price at the Middle of Lidl
  • Free Cocktail at All Bar One (Worth £10.50)
  • And much much more!

It might not suit you every single day, but these deals are picked for their broad appeal that can help everyone to save a little bit of money.

Here’s an example of an email alert sent out to users recently:

How Do I Sign Up?

Head over to the Deal A Day website, where you’ll find the options for membership.

You can choose between free weekly alerts, or the daily deal alerts emails.

Both options will save you money, but signing up for daily alerts means you’ll get emails before anyone else.

As each daily deal can save you £8 a day on average – it won’t take long until the savings start racking up.

Conclusion – Deal A Day

If you wanted to sign up and start receiving deals, that’d be much appreciated!

I’ve been looking for deals and helping people save money for over 11 years, so hopefully Deal A Day is another avenue to help you never pay full price again!

Be sure to sign up for email alerts here. You can also follow Deal A Day on Instagram here, Twitter/X here or on Facebook here.

Too Good To Go – Save Money On Restaurant & Supermarket Food https://jordoncox.com/too-good-to-go-app/ https://jordoncox.com/too-good-to-go-app/#comments Thu, 30 Nov 2023 21:40:52 +0000 https://jordoncox.com/?p=3992 Nobody likes wasting food, and everybody loves saving money – so this…

The post Too Good To Go – Save Money On Restaurant & Supermarket Food appeared first on Jordon Cox.

Nobody likes wasting food, and everybody loves saving money – so this app is the best of both worlds. Too Good To Go can get you cheap supermarket and restaurant food at the end of each day.

If you’ve ever shopped for yellow sticker discounts in the supermarket, you’ll know it can be fun – but also a bit of a nightmare.

It’s a great way to save money, but sometimes there’s nothing you like and maybe even a tussle over the good stuff.

There is a way to solve this however with an app on your phone called Too Good To Go.

As the name suggests, it sells you boxes of expiring food that’s too good to be thrown away.

With this app, you can get cheap food from supermarkets and also restaurants too.

Here’s how it works and how to get some discounted food:

Too Good To Go App – How It Works

You can download the Too Good To Go app for free on both iOS and Android devices.

Once downloaded, you’ll need to fill in a few details to set up an account and you’ll be ready to start saving.

This app works by providing a set number of ‘mystery boxes’ or meals at the end of the day for a cut down price, to avoid throwing it away.

The food you get will be either expiring that day, or something the supermarket/restaurant just has too much of.

If you’re lucky – you could pick up whole pizzas, or fine dining meals which they haven’t sold by days end.

Related: Olio App – Share Unwanted Food For Free

Too Good To Go – Inside The App

On landing on the home screen, different supermarkets and restaurants will pop up in your local area.

All have different prices and likely offer a mystery box of their expired food at the end of the day.

Too Good To Go Reduced Food App

Each deal also gives you a time to collect each mystery box – usually this is late afternoon or evening.

How To Book Your Mystery Boxes

If you see something you like or want to pick up, you’ll need to place an order to reserve it.

Click on the offer you want to pick up, and you’ll be asked to pay in advance for the mystery box or restaurant food.

The usual cost is between £2-4 for a box or restaurant meal, and you can pay with card or Apple Pay.

Of course, as these deal are usually a mystery until you pick it up – this probably isn’t best for picky eaters, incase you get something you’re not fond of.

The deals on this app usually go quick – with the most options happening first thing in the morning.

Some deals sell out by 8-9am in the morning, with others hanging around for a bit longer.

RelatedBirthday Freebies 2021 – 10+ Free Treats To Claim

Too Good To Go Restaurant Takeaway Pizza

How To Claim Your Reduced Food

When your order has been confirmed, you’ll be given a time to show up at the restaurant or supermarket to pick it up.

This is usually within an hour window, where you need to claim it, otherwise you may lose your food and money.

When you show up to the location, show one of the workers your app order, and they’ll fetch your food for you.

You’ll need to swipe across on the screen when prompted to confirm you’ve claimed the reduced food, then you can be on your merry way!

If you picked up some supermarket mystery boxes, be sure to have a look through and put things in the freezer that you won’t eat that night.

If you manage to pick up a whole pizza, curry or takeaway… tuck in and enjoy straight away.

Which Supermarkets & Restaurants Can I Find?

Depending on where you live, you can find food from a number of big name restaurants and supermarkets, as well as independents.

For supermarkets, you can pick up boxes from selected Morrisons, M&S Food, Sainsbury’s and Budgens.

In terms of restaurants, you can find Costa, Greggs, Cafe Nero and many independents.

This isn’t an inclusive list – but it shows you where you can pick up some discounted food.

Of course if you live in a city, you’ll have a lot more option to choose from than if you live in a rural area – but hopefully there’s something for everyone.

My Experience – £11 Of Food For £3

I tried out Too Good To Go at my local Costa Coffee. They advertised a magic bag of items for £3.

Collection was between 4-5pm, which was quite reasonable – perfect stop off for a commute home.

After saying to the cashier I had a Too Good To Go order, he went to the sandwich aisle and picked up three that had expiry dates of that evening.

In total, these would’ve cost £11 if bought in store normally, but I got them for £3.

Taking them home and heating them up meant I got a cut price dinner for my household – and cheddar and tomato was my favourite!

Too Good To Go Costa Coffee Pick Up Deal
Here's my Costa Coffee Haul! £11 worth of items for £3.

How Much Do You Usually Save?

This app will only save you money if you actually eat the food it gives you.

I know this sounds silly to say, however some of the boxes and mystery bags you get from the supermarket has A LOT of food in. Quite often it’s a bit too much for my mother and I.

As a lot of it expires that night as well, unless if you have a large family (or can share with neighbours), it might be too much for you.

The boxes give you around £10+ worth of food for £2-4, so it’s a great saving if it’s eaten.

When it comes to restaurants however, this is great for pretty much anyone.

It’ll require planning by reserving a meal for the evening on the app early in the day, but getting a full restaurant meal worth £10+ for £2-4 is a bargain for anyone – especially if it’s your favourite takeaway.

Conclusion – Too Good To Go

If you love cutting down food waste and love yellow stickers and reduced food – you should be in heaven with Too Good To Go.

I recommend logging onto the app each morning to see what’s up for grabs – especially when you start to run out of food in your fridge.

Hopefully this saves you money – and are nomming on some cheap food very soon!

The post JamDoughnut App – Earn £100s In Cashback Instantly + £2 Free Credit appeared first on Jordon Cox.

There are a lot of different cashback apps out there – but this one is now one of my favourites. Here’s how the JamDoughnut app works.

Whether you’re shopping at the supermarket, in a clothes shop or at a restaurant… there’s a lot of money that can be saved through cashback.

Online cashback from the likes of TopCashback and Quidco are great, but in can take weeks to redeem, and there’s never been anything for in store shopping.

Until now – the JamDoughnut app now fits that bill and can save you £100s a year instantly.

Here’s how it works, and what you can save money on:

JamDoughnut – How Does It Work?

JamDoughnut is an app available for download on both iOS and Android devices.

It’s a cashback app that works in a slightly different way to the ones you know and love.

Cashback is earned by purchasing a gift card for the retailer you’re about to shop at, and receiving cashback on that purchase immediately. You can then use the gift card you’ve bought to shop normally – with cashback in your back pocket.

For example, if you buy a £50 gift card for Nando’s, where JamDoughnut has 7% cashback, they’ll give you £3.50 back into your account, which you can then withdraw as cash.

So in reality, you’ve only really spent £46.50 to get £50 of credit.

You can find supermarkets such as Asda, Morrisons & Sainsbury’s, lots of restaurants including Harvester & Pizza Express, and high street stores such as Argos & Curry’s – all available to get money back on using JamDoughnut.

The gift cards are all so easy to use, either having a QR code to show to a cashier, or a code to enter online getting your credit.

JamDoughnut App – £2 Free Using Referral Code R2GX

There is an offer currently on for new sign ups to the JamDoughnut app.

Once downloaded, you can get up to £2 worth of free credit when you buy your first gift card!

When signing up, enter the code R2GX and you’ll be given 200 points when you make your first purchase.

You’ll need to earn a minimum of £10 in order to withdraw, but that should be very easily done with the offers.

Going on one family meal out using JamDoughnut, or a few weekly shops at the supermarket will get you enough to cash out.

The Best Ways To Use JamDoughnut

I’ve been using the app for a while now – so I’ve figured out the best ways to use it in a few scenarios:

Supermarkets

If you’re a loyal shopper of a supermarket with a cashback offer – pre purchase a gift card for an estimate of what you’ll spend before you head into the supermarket.

You’ll receive a gift card through the app, which you can then scan at the checkout (or self checkout) after you’ve shopped.

You’ll have already received the cashback once the gift card was bought, so you don’t have to fumble around at check out – and don’t technically have to take any cash.

Restaurants

If you’re eating at a restaurant with cashback on JamDoughnut – I’ve always found it better to ask for the bill at the end of the meal.

Once you know the exact amount your food has come to – head over to the JamDoughnut app and purchase a gift card for the full amount.

It comes through immediately after purchase, so you can use it there and then – while earning cashback.

And a side note – you can use JamDoughnut on top of restaurant vouchers too. As the vouchers are a discount on the meal, and the gift card is a form of payment – you can double the discounts!

Rare Brands With Cashback Available

There are 140+ retailers offering cashback on JamDoughnut – some of which you’re hard pressed to find a discount elsewhere.

Supermarkets are the first port of call. Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, M&S and Waitrose are all included – potentially saving you a nice amount of cash on your weekly shop.

Other retailers like John Lewis, Airbnb, Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber are all available for cashback. Usually it’s quite hard to find discounts on retailers like these.

JamDoughnut Rare Retailers

How Much Have I Saved With JamDoughnut?

I’ve been using the JamDoughnut app for around 12 months now. It can be easy to forget to use it – because there are so many brands on there that you wouldn’t even think to check for.

In total, I’ve saved up £646.09 into my JamDoughnut balance – but this could have been higher.

A large part of this was booking several Airbnb holiday trips using the 5% cashback on JamDoughnut – so that was £150 on it’s own!

There rest have been bits and pieces here and there – most of which Uber Eats, JustEat or something else food related!

Conclusion – JamDoughnut App

The JamDoughnut app is another great way to save money – with some great options for brands hard to get discounts on.

It’s also great in the sense that you can stack the JamDoughnut cashback on top of voucher codes and other discounts – doubling the amount you save.

Hopefully this helps you out – and remember the code R2GX to get you £2 in free cash!

Have you used the JamDoughnut app yet? I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments below, on Twitter @Jordon_Cox or on Facebook.

If you’re a comper or a couponer like me, you likely sign up to A LOT of company newsletters and give companies a lot of data. Here’s a way how you can manage it with Rightly.

Do you get a ton of spam and nuisance calls, junk texts and letters? By simply using the web and purchasing online, your personal data will end up everywhere.

While GDPR does give you and your personal data much greater protections, it would be fair to say that it just doesn’t go far enough to stop companies buying and selling your data, so having more control over it is always a good thing.

Luckily there’s a new free service called Rightly Protect, where you can delete ALL of the data companies hold on you in a few clicks.

Here’s how it works:

Rightly Protect – How To Manage Your Data

Unsubscribing from emails doesn’t delete your data from companies who spam you. They can still hold onto your personal information!

Instead, Rightly Protect can analyse your email inbox, and make sure your info is permanently deleted.

It’s quite simple to use, with Gmail, Outlook and Hotmail email accounts eligible to see who has your data.

Once you’ve gone over to the Rightly website, go to ‘protect yourself now’ – and follow the instructions under the automatic section to link your email account.

(Note: Don’t worry – this is totally safe and doesn’t read any important emails you may have – just checks for who has your data)

Next, complete a scan of your inbox, to see which companies are in possession of your data (even after you’ve unsubscribed).

You’ll then see a large list of companies who have your data. You can read down the list and pick the ones that you’d like to remove.

Once all selected, a full erasure request will be sent to each company on your behalf, and your data will be deleted fully.

What Are The Benefits?

You might be thinking that this is just something you can do manually, by just unsubscribing on emails. But in fact, that’s not always the best option.

Pressing unsubscribe on marketing preferences doesn’t mean that your details are completely removed.

You could still be called, sent things through the post, or still have your email and details on file without sending you marketing.

Using Rightly Protect to unsubscribe and delete your records, means there is no way for them to contact you, and your data is a lot more safe.

With data hacks, customer details leaks and more becoming a bigger problem, there’s no harm in making sure you’re extra safe.

Conclusion – Rightly Protect

Hopefully this helps you take a bit more control back over what data you give to companies. You can have a go at using the website here.

It’s a great tool to have in your back pocket too, for those times when you have a bad customer experience and want to remove everything because of it.

Let me know if you’re successful in cutting back the unwanted emails and calls – hopefully you’ll have a bit more peace.

Will you be removing your data from any companies? I’d love to know who in the comments below, on Twitter @Jordon_Cox or on Facebook.

Amazon Tricks – Save Money On Amazon https://jordoncox.com/amazon-tricks-save-money-on-amazon/ https://jordoncox.com/amazon-tricks-save-money-on-amazon/#comments Mon, 15 Nov 2021 18:45:53 +0000 https://jordoncox.com/?p=3947 It's very easy to spend £100s on Amazon in just one click - but there are tips to help you save money on Amazon. This blog contains affiliate links

It’s very easy to spend £100s on Amazon in just one click – but there are tips to help you save money on Amazon. Here are my tricks.

It’s one of the biggest online retailers in the world – Amazon.

I didn’t actually use Amazon for the first few years of my adult life. For just some reason I didn’t log onto Amazon or think anything of it.

But once I discovered it maybe three or four years ago, I am sort of obsessed with it.

Not only for its ease of use, but the fact that you can get things to your door within a day or sometimes even the same day.

Quite often it is the cheapest place to buy things. They usually price compare with a lot of their competitors on the web – so it is quite a safe bet.

However, you can get ripped off on Amazon as well, and there are ways that you can save money on Amazon, and stop spending as much money that you are now.

So I’ll be going through all the different ways that you can save money on Amazon, how to get freebies and some other tools that you may not know about, which might come in handy.

P.S: If you didn’t want to read these tips, you can listen to them on the Secrets To Saving Podcast:

Amazon Trick #1 – Amazon Outlet

This next tip is great and something I didn’t actually know about until quite recently.

It’s a way to save money on Amazon by purchasing through the Amazon outlet.

This is a place where Amazon sells all of their overstocked goods or even faulty goods for a discounted price.

Quite often, you can see things with slight faults like a battered box or slightly damaged – but it doesn’t affect the usability of the items.

For the rest of the stuff, it’s because they’ve just ordered way too much in for Christmas or a holiday and they haven’t sold it, so they sell it at a cheaper price.

Amazon Outlet Save Money Tricks

The stock options are usually limited, but there are several categories to take a look through, including electronics, baby, home or furniture, books, kitchen, and more.

If you see something you like the look of, it will tell you what’s wrong with the product as you add it to your basket – so you’re aware before you press buy.

From having a quick look myself, I saw £10 off an iPhone case, £10 off a Bluetooth mouse, £50 off a TomTom satnav – the list went on.

I even saw £100 off a push chair, which had been used in the past once and sent back to Amazon, and put on the outlet. So the box had been opened, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the contents inside.

If you do want to buy anything, make sure you have a check of the outlet to see if it’s on there at a discounted price.

Amazon Trick #2 – Split The Cost Of Prime

Do you have someone in your house who’s the only person with Prime, so they have to do all the ordering?

Or perhaps you have a partner or a relative with Prime that you want to tap onto it as well?

There is actually a way that you can have two adults share the same benefits of Prime and only pay for one membership.

It’s called Amazon household. To get it, you need to log onto the Amazon household page and send an invite to the person who you want to link up with.

Amazon Household Saving Money

After going through the steps of adding them, you’re both linked! So whoever has Prime is giving their Prime access to the other person, and it doesn’t cost them any money.

The main bill payer still pays for Prime, but instead there are two people getting the benefits instead of one – and you can add up to four children as well to watch Amazon Prime video and the kids areas.

Prime membership usually costs about £7.99 a month, so you can either split the cost between two, or if it’s your partner or someone you share bills with, then you can just tap on and you don’t pay any extra.

So if there are two people in your household paying for Prime, stop it now. Sign up to Amazon household and you will save £7.99 a month.

You both get access to Prime delivery (one day delivery), Prime video, Prime music, and more – so there are different options to use it other than delivery.

There is one slight caveat for this though. When you link accounts, your credit card details and your debit card details are shared with each other.

So you’ll need to be quite trusting of that person to make sure that they don’t spend on your card.

And one other thing, is if you both have a smart speaker, you can see what they’re searching for. So don’t go asking Alexa anything weird… because the other person might be able to see it.

This all requires a bit of love and a bit of trust, but it’s a great tip if you want to split your bill or basically get it for free if you’ve got a really nice friend.

See this blog for the full info about Amazon Household

Amazon Trick #3 – Save Money On Amazon Delivery Fees

This is a great tip for anyone who does not have Prime and doesn’t like paying the sky high delivery fees if you spend under £20 on Amazon.

It’s called the Super Saver Delivery Tool. It’s a pretty easy website, that suggests items to add to your basket and meet the minimum threshold of free delivery.

When you land on their home page, it asks you to put in the amount that is in your basket right now, and then it suggests products that you can put in your basket to reach £20 for free delivery.

Super Saver Delivery Tool On Amazon Tricks

This is especially great if you’re £2 or £3 under, because it’s £4 delivery, it’s just worth adding something to your basket. It gets you something for free, and gets you free delivery.

As an example, I had £17.53 in my basket once (nightmare)! I hopped onto Super Saver Delivery Tool and tried to find something around the price £2.47.

A lot of options came up like a Harry Potter plastic tablecloth, a Fruit of the Loom unisex kids T-Shirt, a Goodnight Mr. Tom DVD and more.

Those were all £2.50 – so adding to your basket would make it £20.02 – which includes free delivery.

Check out the Super Saver Delivery Tool here

Amazon Trick #4 – Amazon Free Trials

This is really handy for people who don’t have Prime (and sometimes people that do), because Amazon loves giving away free trials.

Even if you’ve already used a free trial, if you wait a few months and go back to the same sign up page, it usually offers you another one.

It’s a way for them to entice you in, get the free trial and then continue on with the subscription if you forget to cancel it or not.

But if you get any of these free trials, you can cancel straight away – meaning you can still get the usual free 30 days, and use it however much you want before not paying a penny for any more.

There’s not just Prime you can get free trials for. You can get Kindle Unlimited, Amazon Music, Amazon Prime Video and more.

Here’s a full list of what you can get:

Amazon Prime

Kindle Unlimited

Amazon Music

Amazon Prime Video

Audible

Amazon Fire For Kids

Some of these things aren’t included in your Amazon Prime subscription as well, so be sure to check them out.

Amazon Trick #5 – Check Historical Pricing

Here’s one final tip for you. There’s a website you can use to see if it’s the right time to buy on Amazon, based on what pricing has been in the past.

It’s a website called CamelCamelCamel. It sounds weird – I know, but it’s a great tool if you shop on Amazon.

It’s a tool to show you pricing history of everything single product you can buy on Amazon.

If you search for an echo dot, for example, it’ll show you a graph of what the prices were in the past 12 months.

With this, you can see if buying right now is the cheapest price, or whether it has dropped lower.

There are also other features such as price alerts, which you can receive an email from them when your chosen item drops below your preferred price.

It also shows you what third-party sellers are selling items for, as sometimes Amazon isn’t the cheapest.

This is a handy tool, especially around Black Friday and Prime Day, so you can see if the items that they’re selling and they’re promoting quite heavily, is really a deal or not.

I used this quite often on Black Friday last year and there were several items that had been cheaper in the past. It was not the cheapest day to buy.

So this information might not save money on Amazon, but it’s a good gauge as to whether it’s a good price right now, or whether it might be worth looking elsewhere on other websites to see if you can find it cheaper.

See the full info on CamelCamelCamel and how it works

Amazon Trick #6 – Get Cashback On Amazon Purchases

Did you know that Amazon is available for cashback on TopCashback and Quidco?

Both of these cashback websites offer 2.5% cashback when buying selected Amazon products.

Save Money On Amazon With TopCashback

Unfortunately it doesn’t cover everything you can buy on Amazon – but it’s still a little something to remember if you were to buy an Amazon item.

The 2.5% cashback will be paid if you buy an Echo device, Fire TV device, Kindle E-Reader or Kindle Tablet devices.

When buying an Echo Dot for £49.99, the cashback will get you around £1.25 back. Not life changing, but a nice way to save money on Amazon.

See a full cashback guide here for how it works

Update: There’s a new TopCashback game happening right now called TopCashback Christmas Treats 2021 – find it here.

The TopCashback games are back in full swing – with TopCashback Halloween Trick Or Treats 2021. If you can’t find those pesky hummingbirds – here are all the answers to the clues if you get stuck.

Some competitions get so many entries that don’t culminate in any wins. But the TopCashback treats games are usually good odds!

TopCashback Halloween Trick Or Treats 2021 has £13,313 worth of prizes to be won – ranging from 10p to £1,000 in cold hard cash.

Even if you don’t win, it’s a fun game to play each day, hunting for hummingbirds around the website that could win you a cash prize.

Here’s how the promotion works, and how to play:

TopCashback Halloween Trick Or Treats 2021 – How It Works

At some of the biggest parts of the year, TopCashback launch a ‘treats’ promotion, which can win you up to £1,000.

Each day, by logging into your account and working out answers to the clues, you can find hummingbirds with special ‘treats’.

When you collect enough of these treats, you can unlock cash prizes or get random prize draw entries. Woo hoo!

Here are the ‘treats’ from this years competition (2021), that you may stumble across again this time around:

Halloween Trick Or Treats 2021 TopCashback

The ‘treats’ you get are completely random – so what will likely happen (as does with me every year), it that you’ll be one treat away from completing each board.

They can be filled and money can be won however – so much sure you keep searching and solving clues each day.

So how to you collect these treats? You need to look for the TopCashback hummingbird that is hiding on different retailer pages on the website.

If you click on a page that has a hidden hummingbird, it’ll fly out onto your screen, and clicking on it will unlock you one of the above treats.

These hummingbirds can be found on random pages by clicking around, or you can work out the daily clue to lead you right to one.

When I opened the above hummingbird – I got a pear as a treat!

It appears on the screen like this:

TopCashback Halloween Trick Or Treats 2021 – Answers To Clues

Each day, you’re given a sneaky clue about where one of the hummingbirds and treats are hidden.

You’ll need to solve the cryptic puzzle to find the right retailer page that it’s hiding on.

Some of these clues are pretty easy, but others are harder to work out. Here’s an example of a clue:

Whether you can’t work it out, or want to bypass the thinking phase and get straight to the hummingbirds – here are the TopCashback Halloween Trick Or Treats 2021 answers:

Note: There’s a treats promotion happening right now called TopCashback Christmas Treats – find it here!

After a LONG wait, the TopCashback games are back with TopCashback Autumn Treats 2021 – here are all the answers to the clues if you get stuck.

Competitions are never guaranteed, but I quite regularly win small prizes in the treats promotion.

TopCashback Autumn Treats 2021 has £15,000 worth of prizes to be won – ranging from 10p to £1,000 in cold hard cash.

Even if you don’t win, it’s a fun game to play each day, hunting for clues and answers around the website that could bag you a prize.

Here’s how the promotion works, and how to play:

TopCashback Autumn Treats 2021 – How It Works

Depending on which ones you randomly collect, determines what price you could win. If you collect enough of a treat, you’ll be the lucky recipient of a prize! Woo hoo!

If you solve the clues, you may also instead of a treat, be given a prize draw entry to win £1,000 – which is drawn at the end of the promotion

Here are the ‘treats’ that you may stumble across:

We all know about price comparison websites, helping you save money on car insurance for example. But did you know there’s also supermarket price comparison sites too? So how do you compare supermarket prices? What are the MySupermarket alternatives? Find out in this blog.

This blog has been updated in August 2021

MySupermarket used to be the go to website for comparing your supermarket shopping basket. You can find out what products were cheapest, and where to go to save money.

As of 1st March 2020, MySupermarket closed for good, and in the time since, there have been a number of MySupermarket alternatives pop up to help you save a little bit of money.

These new websites can be useful to compare prices, but some don’t work very well at all. There is one supermarket comparison website that is my favourite though.

Here is all the information you need, and how to use it:

Is there a My Supermarket alternative?

Yes! Even though MySupermarket has gone – there is alternative to My Supermarket for grocery price comparison.

On this new website, plenty of features have returned, including checking prices, seeing what deals are on, average pricing and alerts for price drops.

If used before doing your supermarket shopping, it could really add up to a lot of money saved

Compare Supermarket Prices – Trolley.co.uk

The new supermarket comparison website is called Trolley. It works in a very similar way to MySupermarket, where searching for your item in the search bar shows you the pricing.

It claims to compare prices with other supermarkets on over 130,000 items, so you can find practically everything you can think of to compare prices on.

Trolley has one of the biggest number of supermarkets for comparison too, with Aldi, Asda, B&M, Boots, Co-op, Home Bargains, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Wilko all getting involved.

Trolley Supermarket price comparison compare prices

There’s also a Trolley app available for download on both the App Store and Google Play, that lets you can in barcodes to see where it’s cheapest to buy.

It’s a good alternative to MySupermarket, though using it as a supermarket price comparison for each item once at a time can take time. There’s no feature yet to add things to a basket to compare the whole basket value, but it’s still early days – and more features will come soon.

This blog originally talked about MySupermarket, so I’ve kept the old blog below as it used to be to remember how it once was (in case any new companies want to match the old features their own version!)

If any other MySupermarket Alternatives pop up, I’ll be sure to write about them, and include them here.

Remember: If you’re new here, remember to sign up to my newsletter

MySupermarket – How It Worked

Knowing where the best place to get your groceries every week is hard to figure out. They all switch up offers near enough weekly, so finding the cheapest price is difficult.

Luckily – there’s a way to check prices in each supermarket, and also see where would be cheapest for your whole supermarket shopping.

It’s a website called MySupermarket, and it’s got a ton of features to help you price compare the supermarkets. Here’s a full guide of what it is and how to use it.

Supermarket price comparison UK – MySupermarket

MySupermarket compares the prices in all major supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose, Iceland (and sometimes Aldi & Lidl).

It’s quite simple to use. Type in the name of the product into the search bar and find the item you are looking for.

Once you’ve clicked on it, you’ll see a table of all the different prices in all supermarkets – so you can see where it’s cheapest. Pretty simple right?

Supermarket Price Comparison

It also has a handy feature that allows you to add your whole shopping into a basket, and find out which supermarket is cheapest to buy it all from – as it adds up the totals of the items you add.

So if you’re not loyal to one supermarket, you could potentially switch and save a bit of money every week on your shopping.

Compare supermarket prices at any time

As you begin to put items in your basket, you will notice the panel on the right of all the supermarkets. They are listed in order of basket total, cheapest at the top.

At any point during your shop, you can switch to another supermarket and MySupermarket will move all your items over to ones from that store.

Bear in mind that some things won’t be available at another supermarket, for example an own-brand product, so will be substituted with something similar, so make sure you double check your basket before you check out.

After clicking on another supermarket in the list, you will be shown a ‘Switch and Save’ popup, showing you how much money you can save but even helps you out with whether that store has a rewards card and even compares delivery costs (or tells you if they don’t deliver).

How to purchase your basket – MySupermarket

Once you’ve added everything into your basket on MySupermarket to check where’s cheapest, you are able to move that exact basket over to any supermarket straight away for a quick and easy checkout. You won’t have to enter everything again.

Hit the ‘checkout’ button to begin your checkout. Once your MySupermarket account is linked to the supermarket’s account, you will be able to send your basket to the supermarket.

After pressing this, you will be reminded of how much money you have saved while you wait for it to be transferred.

Once complete, simply head over to the supermarket’s own website and log in to see all your groceries in the basket, ready to book a time slot (if you didn’t earlier) and complete check out as normal.

This way however, you know that after the supermarket price comparison, you’re getting the best price.

How do I check what’s cheap this week?

If you don’t have a shopping basket or items in mind, there is an offers tab to find reduced items in each supermarket.

These items on offer will show you the percentage price drop from the regular price, the new price and the new price per unit value.

There are also ‘Savvy Buys’ which let you know when something is at least 30% cheaper than the average price across all the supermarkets – which is really handy to know.

How else can supermarket comparison websites save me money?

There are a lot of handy features other than supermarket price comparison that save you a little more if you’re a cost conscious shopper. Here are a few of my favourites:

  • Unlike all the normal supermarket online shops, MySupermarket allows you to sort products by price per unit, so when you’re looking to top up your dishwasher tablet stash, you can sort by how much each tablet costs – including ones which are on offer.
  • When you add a product to your basket, MySupermarket will check if that’s the cheapest option for that product and if it isn’t, it will put up a blue banner to suggest that you ‘Swap and Save’. Click this blue banner to be shown an array of alternative products.
  • This swap and save feature will also include items which would mean you would have to buy more (sometimes in conjunction with a multi-buy offer) to receive a cheaper per unit price for that product. Choosing to swap an item rewards you with a satisfying “ker-ching!” sound as it is added to your basket!
  • If you miss any of these blue banners, you can always check in using the saving options area in the right sidebar, where it shows you how many items you can swap to save money.

Compare Supermarket Prices

Is there a supermarket price comparison app for MySupermarket?

Of course! It’s available on both the App Store and Google Play. This is quite handy for using when you’re in the supermarket, as it has a scan feature.

This lets you check the prices of that item in all supermarkets after scanning the barcode, and you can also set price alerts on it and get a notification when it drops in price.

Clicking the plus icon in a circle will add it to your basket. This scan feature is handy for adding things as you run out of them while cooking for example; scanning the product’s packaging as you put it in the bin. No need for shopping lists any more!

The app has similar functionality to the website – to swap supermarket you will need to look to the bottom of the screen and press the supermarket name and choose the alternative supermarket there.

Your swap and save deals are found by going to your basket (the icon looks like a shopping list in the top right), then pressing the saving centre blue banner at the bottom.

Conclusion – MySupermarket comparison

If you’re someone who does their weekly shop online, this is such an easy tool to use as you will already be used to the online supermarket websites.

The ability to sort by unit price is, on its own, a fantastic feature of anyone who wants to make sure they’re getting the best price for their grocery shopping.

Adding the app means busy people can add things to their basket during the week as they use items around the house, then only need to check prices and checkout when they want their next delivery.

Hopefully this gives you a glimpse into the world of supermarket price comparison in the UK. If you shop in Waitrose, don’t forget you can get 5% back with Airtime Rewards. You can also get free supermarket shopping by using cashback app Shopmium.
