Make Extra Money During Lockdown
As we’re now in another lockdown, there’s no denying that money will be tight for a lot of people. So why not make extra money during lockdown with these side hustles?
I’ve always said it’s a good idea to have a side hustle alongside your normal job – but I think this year is even more proof.
If you don’t know, a ‘side hustle’ is extra work or a small pieces of income that comes in on the side alongside your normal job.
It’s a way to make sure you have a little bit of a buffer. I don’t think anyone would turn down extra money trickling in each month!
How To Make Extra Money During Lockdown
You can choose from plenty of side hustles, or even small online tasks to make you some extra money this month (or any month).
You can pick and choose the ones that suit you, depending on your skills and how much time you have. It could be an extra job, or something online which is less time consuming.
While I can’t give you the exact answers of what to do to make extra cash, there are a few ways that you can make extra money during lockdown.

Without further ado, here are a few of my tips to make extra money during lockdown.
Sell Your Skills On Fiverr
Everyone has some kind of skill you can sell online – and you can make some decent money out of it through Fiverr.
I posted a gig selling voiceover services, and I’ve made over £1,000 in total by speaking into a microphone.
It’s quite easy to set up a listing selling one of your skills – then you sit back and wait for orders.
Skills you can sell include:
- Graphic Design
- Translation
- Proofreading
- Voiceover
- Video Editing
- Spokesperson/Unboxing Videos
- And more
And before you say “I don’t have any skills I can sell online”… people can literally sell anything on there.
There are Tinder coaches, video game coaches, music lessons, HR consulting… you name it, it’s probably on there.

Earn £100s From Your Friends
Your friends can be a great source of income (or free credit on your favourite websites).
If you really like a company or website, have you had a look to see if there are any refer a friend schemes to make some money from it?
Depending on which scheme you refer through, you could make up to £100 per referral, or make £100s in credit so you can get items for free.
For example, you can earn:
- Up to £100 on Trading 212
- £5-25 on TopCashback
- £10 credit each on Uber Eats
- £25 credit on Airbnb
- £6 credit on Groupon
You can refer your partner, parents, friends or anyone who might be interest – and it can be like a second income as you build up some money or credit for yourself – and your friends get freebies too most times.

Make A Profit On Topcashback
If you’re a money saver like me, then you’ve probably heard of TopCashback.
It’s a website where you can earn cashback for spending money online – just by clicking through a link on their website.
Well – did you know that you can actually earn free money/cashback out of it? For example spending £10 and earning £30 cashback for doing so?
And if you didn’t want to spend money, there are offers which bag you cashback for spending nothing at all.
Examples of free cashback include:
- £4 free for signing up to Experian
- £14.31 profit for signing up to Match.com
- £20 profit for registering and playing £20 on Betfair Casino

Sell Your Old Tech & Games
You could be sitting on a goldmine in your cupboard of old phones, old games, consoles and DVDs.
During lockdown, the demand for games consoles and things to keep people entertained shoots up – which means you can earn more for the stuff you don’t use anymore.
Whether it’s your old iPhone 7 or your old Wii controllers or your whole DVD collection, some of them can be worth a small fortune.
You have a couple of options for selling them, you can either look though listings on eBay to see what things are selling for, or head on to CEX.
CEX has an online system where you can send a package full of your old tech, which they’ll give you cash or vouchers for. I sent in a bumper sized box during the last lockdown and get £400 in cash.

Sell Your Extra Space
If you have a garage you don’t use, a warehouse, shed, loft or more unused space – you are able to rent those out for people to store their stuff.
This could add up to £100s in extra cash for you each month. Renting out space in your garage should be safe during lockdown too.
It’s a safe system and you’re paid monthly after they’ve taken their commission.
