I am always asked ‘what is your favourite way to save money’, and for me, it’s like picking your favourite child. I have so many tips – so here are my top picks in one place.

If I’m ever asked, I usually spew a long list of 30+ different websites and bombard people with names. If I’ve done this to you – I apologise, but I’ve probably mentioned that I now have this page on my website for you to look at.

So, without further ado, here is a full list of the websites & apps I recommend you have a look at, and a brief explanation (but without me shouting them at you!) I’ll be writing individual articles about all of these in the coming months, so will add links to the full explanation as and when.

Mobile apps to download

Airtime Rewards (Full article)

Link your Visa and Mastercards to this app, and if you ever spend at one of its retailers, you get cashback, and you don’t have to think about it. Retailers include Waitrose, Wilko, Argos, Papa Johns and many more. Cashback into your account will be transferred and pay your monthly phone bill.

Enter my referral code TEMMNEV4 to get 50p for free when you sign up (and a bonus £1 if you shop with one of their retailers in the first week).

Chip (Full article)

If you’re bad at putting money away to save up for something special, an app called Chip can do it for you. It auto-saves money for you each week in small increments, so you don’t notice much of a change in your bank balance – but enough to build up a nice little pot.

If you download the app and use the referral code JCOX10, you will get £10 extra added to your pot – which you can withdraw at any time.

Shopmium (Full article)

There are over 50 supermarket items which you can get cashback on. Simply buy one of the products listed, and take a picture of your receipt to prove it. You’ll receive the cashback as a straight transfer to PayPal. Quite often you can get free items on here too.

Enter my referral code S3i37R to get a free tub of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream (worth £4-6).

Gener8 (Full article

Replace annoying internet ad banners and adverts all over the web with pictures of pugs with this browser extension – and get paid for it too. You build up tokens which you can exchange for Amazon Vouchers, Amazon products or donate to charity.

JobSpotter

If you ever see a hiring or ‘help wanted’ sign in shop windows when out and about, take a picture of it and you’ll be paid in Amazon vouchers for submitting it. I’ve made over £100 since I started using it.

Red by Dufry

By signing up and downloading this app, you can get 5% off World Duty Free shops worldwide – by scanning a QR code. Every time you use your QR code, you also build up points, which will unlock 7.5% off or 10% off World Duty free (but everyone gets 5% off). Extra perks including cheap airport lounges and money off car hire can be unlocked also.

Intu Pocket

If you shop at an Intu shopping centre, you can get a percentage cashback when shopping at certain stores including 3% at McDonalds, 4% at The Perfume Shop and 2% at Superdry. Connect your cards to it before you buy and you’ll receive cashback.

TrainPal

Purchase train tickets with no booking fees and get £5 worth of vouchers for signing up. They regularly do promotions which you can win vouchers for money off train fares. I work in Central London, and haven’t paid full price for a train fare since using this app.

Use the code d0dba44c to get £5 off your first two train journeys.

Useful websites & hacks

Cashback Websites

Before you buy ANYTHING online, be it clothes, insurance, a holiday and more – click through a cashback website and you’ll get a percentage of your spend back. You can either redeem as cash or vouchers for a number of retailers.

There are two main cashback websites to sign up to – TopCashback & Quidco.

Split the bill of Amazon Prime with Amazon Household

If you live with someone who has Prime, you don’t both have to pay for it. If you sign up to an Amazon Household account, you can share the benefits with another adult and up to four children.

2for1 cinema tickets & restaurant meals for a whole year (by paying £1)

By purchasing any insurance through Compare the Meerkat, you get 2for1 cinema tickets and 2for1 meals at restaurants nationwide for a whole year. There is a trick though. You can purchase any old insurance, no matter how cheap it is.

The cheapest you can get is a day’s travel insurance in the UK (it costs around £1). Once purchased, you’ll be issued with a code to unlock a whole year of 2for1 cinema and restaurants!

I’ll continue to update this page with new deals and things you should know about – so be sure to keep checking back.

Hope you’ve found this useful! Which of these have you used? Have you started using one of these after reading? Let me know in the comments below, on Twitter @Jordon_Cox or on Facebook.
