I am always asked ‘what is your favourite way to save money’, and for me, it’s like picking your favourite child. I have so many tips – so here are my top picks in one place.
With the cost of living constantly being on people’s minds, it’s more important than ever to start cutting back costs.
Whether it’s using cashback, coupons or knowing some sneaky tricks and hacks – there are plenty of resources you can use.
There have been lots of blogs I’ve published over the years that can still save you money now, and beyond into 2024 – so I’ve rounded up the best ones for you to look at.
Hopefully it means you’ll have a bit more money in your pocket in the long run.
Here’s each website or app, and a brief explanation about each:
Airtime Rewards
Airtime Rewards is a cashback app on your phone which you can earn money with little effort.
Link your Visa and Mastercards to this app, and if you ever spend at one of its retailers, you get cashback, and you don’t have to think about it.
Retailers include Primark, Boots, Wilko, Argos, Papa Johns and many more. Cashback into your account will be transferred and pay your monthly phone bill.
Enter my referral code TEMMNEV4 to get 50p for free when you sign up (and a bonus £1 if you shop with one of their retailers in the first week).
JamDoughnut
JamDoughnut is a brand new cashback app where you can get £100s worth of cashback instantly – this includes supermarkets.
It works through buying gift cards for your favourite brands, and then being rewarded with some cashback on your purchase.
You can then go ahead and spend the gift card with some free cashback in your account.
On JamDoughnut, you can get cashback on supermarkets like Asda, Sainsbury’s M&S & Waitrose – as well as high street shops and restaurants.
You can get £1 free credit and £4 extra credit when you make your first purchase by using the code R2GX when signing up.

Shopmium
Shopmium is a supermarket cashback app on your phone that gets you freebies or discounts for buying groceries.
There are currently over 20 supermarket items which you can get cashback on.
Simply buy one of the products listed, and take a picture of your receipt to prove you’ve bought it. You’ll receive the cashback as a straight transfer to PayPal once accepted.
Quite often you can get free items on here too. Enter my referral code YU8i9F to get a free tube of Pringles (worth £1-3).
Gener8 Ads
Gener8 Ads is a browser plugin, which replaces adverts on the web to it’s own ones – which pays YOU for viewing them.
With each ad you see, you’ll build up tokens which you can exchange for Amazon Vouchers, Amazon products or donate to charity.
The idea, is to get enough people signed up so they can pay everyone in cash – but it’s still in early stages.
Instead of adverts, they replace them with pictures of pugs and feel good images too, which is nicer for everyone!
TopCashback
TopCashback is an online cashback site which can earn you a lot of money for little work.
Before you buy ANYTHING online, be it clothes, insurance, a holiday etc – you need to search on a cashback website, or you could be missing out on free cash.
If you know you’re about to buy something, search for the retailer on TopCashback, and click through their link. This will track you across to the website and see what you spend.
With each retailer, you are given a percentage of your spend back, which you can claim as cash or vouchers.
Red By Dufry
Red By Dufry is an app on your phone which you use at Duty Free stores at airports worldwide.
By signing up and downloading this app, you can get 5% off World Duty Free shops, both in the UK and abroad – by scanning a QR code.
Every time you use your QR code, you also build up points, which will unlock 7.5% off or 10% off World Duty free (but everyone gets 5% off).
Extra perks including cheap airport lounges and money off car hire can be unlocked also.
Olio
Olio is another app on your phone, that lets you share unwanted food with your neighbours.
If you ever find something in your cupboard that you’ll never use, or cook a little bit too much food in your evening meal – you can give it to a neighbour for free.
On the flip side, if you see anything you want that your neighbours post, you can pick it up for free too.
Lidl Plus
Lidl Plus is a loyalty and coupons app on your phone, that gets you money off your supermarket shopping at Lidl.
For downloading and signing up to the app, you get £5 off a £25 spend coupons, alongside weekly rotating coupons and offers.
For scanning your QR code in store, you get a scratchcard which can win you more money off or free shopping.
£45+ of Birthday Freebies
When you turn a year older, you can celebrate with some freebies! Companies and brands want to give you deals and discounts to make you feel special on your big day too.
You can get a lot of free food, including doughnuts, cakes and smoothies. There are also £5 vouchers for Paperchase and Body Shop with no minimum spend.
See how to get them and some extra tips on Birthday Freebies.
Deals you should know about
Those are the top websites and apps which are good to know, but there are also a few deals which are worth flagging too.
Get 2for1 cinema tickets and restaurant meals for a year for £1-3
By purchasing any insurance through Compare the Meerkat, you get 2for1 cinema tickets and 2for1 meals at restaurants nationwide for a whole year.
There is a trick though. You can purchase any old insurance, no matter how cheap it is.
The cheapest you can get is a day’s travel insurance in the UK (it costs around £1-3). Once purchased, you’ll be issued with a code to unlock a whole year of 2for1 cinema and restaurants!
Split the bill of Amazon Prime with Amazon Household
If you live with someone who has Prime, you don’t both have to pay for it. If you sign up to an Amazon Household account, you can share the benefits with another adult and up to four children.
Coop Frozen Meal Deal for £5
Each month, Co-op releases a new meal deal for £5, which includes 5 items from the frozen section.
It usually is made up of two mains, two sides and a desert, and usually saves you £5-10 on buying it separately.
The deal changes to different items every 4 weeks. Have a look what the current one is here.
31 days of free hot drinks at Pret
Pret A Manger has just launched a subscription service, where for £30 a month, you can get up to 5 free drinks a day, and 20% off food.
If you register for the subscription, you get the first month free, and you can cancel at any time.
And those are my top picks! I hope you’ve learned something new by reading this.
